F1 2010 Game Review

F1 2010 Game Review. By Sean

I’ve been waiting for this game to come out for a while now and I pre ordered it as soon as you could. Got it on the day it arrived and played it a lot since.

2010 Cars and Tracks:

The game has every driver, car and track that was in the 2010 season. Every single track has been made very life like much more detail and realism to it compared to the older F1 games. This also goes for the cars as well every single car is real looking and detailed.

Career Mode:

That’s right you can live the dream and step into career mode. First of all you will talk to your agent and pick what team you want to start with either HRT, Virgin or Lotus. You also pick your name and helmet as well. Then you will be asked how many seasons do you want to do 3, 5 or 7. Before you start a race you can pick what difficulty you want and how long the race is. If you do well through out the seasons you will move up to quicker and better teams and earn more XP. You will also get interviews at the end of each race. The downside to career mode is that the interview questions are pretty much always the same but that’s it.

Time Trial and Grand Prix Weekend:

In the time trial mode pick any car, track and weather you want and go out for a drive, you can also compare your times with your friends if they have done them. With the grand prix weekend mode you can pick any car, track and weather and race the full weekend. Friday practices, Saturday practice, Saturday qualifying and the Sunday race. You can also pick to do just a few laps or the full 100% race.

Multiplayer:

It’s mixed thoughts on this just depends on who you are racing! Pretty much every race online their is a huge crash at the first corner and some people ram you and just mess about. Apart from this online is very good when you are racing against people who don’t mess about.

Weather:

When it rains in this game it’s just so real life, amazing detail the best weather effects I have ever seen in a game to date. Some parts of the tracks have big puddles like at the bottom of a hill and higher parts of the track are drier so the grip changes about just like in real life.

Good:

Amazing first attempt at a F1 game from Codemasters.
All 2010 tracks, cars and drivers in amazing real life detail.
Real life weather conditions.
Career mode with having options to change things to your liking.
Interviews.
Time trials and Grand Prix weekend.
Multiplayer.
Amazing detail and graphics.
Real life sounds and radio talk.

Bad:

No commentary.
No podiums.
No warm up lap.
Can’t see any of the drivers with their helmets off.
No safety car.
Invalid laps and penalties are sometimes wrong. Also pit speed penalty can be wrong sometimes.

Overall,

f1 2010 review coverA very good attempt from Codemasters at their first F1 game. They have done so well making all the cars and tracks in amazing detail. The weather effects is outstanding and the realism is also incredible. However with the things I have mentioned under ‘Bad’ above that’s what’s stopping the game from getting 5 out of 5 if they add that in and maybe bonus classic F1 cars from the past that you can unlock then it will be a perfect F1 game.

4 / 5
